Modified Dart Folding Instructons

The Modified Dart is a straightforward design that’s easy to fold and surprisingly precise. For enhanced flight accuracy, consider trimming the nose—just be sure to tape it securely to reduce drag and maintain stability. If you run into any snags during folding, check out the step-by-step tutorials on YouTube for visual guidance and pro tips.

Getting Started

I prefer standard 8.5x11 inch printer paper. However, heavier paper can provide more stability, while lighter paper may glide longer. All of the templates from Paper Plane Builder are designed on 8.5x11 inch paper.
Start by laying the template on a flat surface with the graphics pointing up and the nose pointing toward you.

Next, fold the page in half from from left to right.

Step 2.

Fold the bottom right corner upward to meet along the left edge. Mirror that fold on the opposite side.

Step 3.

Fold the bottom right corner upward to meet along the left edge. Mirror that fold on the opposite side.

Fold the new edge left to meet along the left edge. Mirror that fold on the opposite side.

Step 4.

Fold the new edge left to meet along the left edge. Mirror that fold on the opposite side.

Fold the top right corner from side to side to create the wing tips then straighten it. Mirror that fold on the opposite side.

Step 5.

Fold the top right corner from side to side to create the wing tips then straighten it. Mirror that fold on the opposite side.

Fold the wings in half so that the wing land just below the left edge. Mirror that fold on the opposite side.

Step 6.

Fold the wings in half so that the wing land just below the left edge. Mirror that fold on the opposite side.

Optionally, cut along the solid line on the nose of the plane.

Fold the wing tips up slightly.

Step 8.

Finally, add a small piece of tape to the top, nose and bottom of the plane.

Flight Tip:

Adding a little weight to the nose can increase the flight time. I've used both tape and paperclip and, depending on the positioning, either can be effective.
