Paper Plane Gliding Competition

Paper airplane gliding competition for pdf paper airplane makers

Wholly cow! that was some sweet hangtime!

Paper airplanes provide a unique challenge when it comes to gliding because they need to be folded accurately to achieve long distance flight. A gliding competition can be a fun way to experience flight while learning about aerodynamics and engineering. Distance competitions are also an excellent exercise to help kids learn to keep records and take accurate measurements while testing out different styles of paper airplanes.

A paper-plane glider competition is a game in which players make paper planes that are designed to glide long distances. After the competitors build their paper aircraft it's time to compete to see who’s plane will fly the furthest. The competitors plane that flies the furthest wins.

To Host A Gliding Competition You'll Need...

  1. Some paper options
  2. A few paper airplane templates
  3. A number of paper clips
  4. Some Tape
  5. Two or more players
  6. An indoor or outdoor course
  7. A way to measure distance

The Course:

A gliding competition is no small feat, well, you'll at least need multiple feet. But really, you'll need a fairly large space for a paper plane gliding competition. If you're working with a smaller space you might also consider paper airplanes that don't fly very far.

You'll also need to decide how you'll measure the distance between the contestant and where their plane lands. While a tape measure would be a suitable solution you can also use string.

Lastly, when considering distance it's important to define how you'll handle slide. If the distance is defined by where the aircraft touched down you'll need observers in place to mark the location.

The gliding competition:

Paper airplane gliding competitions are a fun and exciting way to test your paper crafting skills and your flying abilities! This type of competition typically begins with participants creating their own unique paper airplanes before they compete against one another in the air. The aim is to achieve the longest flight distance when gliding across a specially designed course.

The rules vary depending on the competitors skill level, but generally, each participant has several chances to observe how their planes glide before making any changes. This allows them to get familiar with the course, make adjustments and try again until they achieve perfect flight patterns.

The rest of the competition is pretty straight forward. Each contestant takes turns throwing their plane and measuring the distance between the player and where their paper plane lands. If you want a faster passed game you can have multiple contestants throw at the same time. After all competitors have taken their turns, the one who achieved the longest distance is declared as the winner!

To Win:

  • The paper airplane that flies the farthest wins
  • The paper airplane must pass over or through the finish line in one throw
  • The competitor must be behind the start line

Paper plane gliding competitions are great for those looking for a stimulating mental challenge that’s also lots of fun!
