Power Up Your Paper Plane Competition With These Great Tips

Are you ready to take your paper airplane skills to the next level? If so, a paper airplane competition could be just the event for you! Gather up some players and get ready for some friendly competition. With a little practice and creativity, your contestants will be well on their way to becoming paper plane masters.

To prepare for your paper airplane competition, start by researching different types of planes and their designs. You can use online resources like Paper Plane Builder or books from your local library to learn more about the aerodynamics behind various shapes and sizes of aircraft. Once you have a good understanding of paper airplanes  you'll be able to choose the right style for your game or activity.

Getting Players Ready For A Paper Airplane Competition :

While there’s no surefire way to guarantee victory in a paper airplane competition, following these simple strategies when preparing for a competition can create a more enjoyable experience for the players.

  • DESIGN is the most important factor for any successful paper airplane. Testing out different builds will help determine which one works best for achieving maximum distance and accuracy.
  • BALANCE the paper airplane using tape, staples or paper clips, a well balanced aircraft will help make the aircraft more accurate.
  • PRACTICE throwing the paper airplane from different distances while experimenting with launch speed until a comfortable technique has been achieved.

Paper Plane Building Kit:

You'll want to limit the materials available for the building stage. Below is a list of suggested materials each contestant should receive for the plane design stage.

  • Printed paper airplane templates
  • 2 paper clips
  • 2 inches of clear tape
  • A flat work surface
  • Scissors

The Build Stage:

If your competition calls for a building stage start by setting a specific amount of time for the contestants to plan, build and test their aircraft. 10 to 15 minutes is a good starting point but reducing the amount of time for more experienced paper crafters will make things more interesting. Give each contestant the building materials, set the timer, then just count down from three and start the timer. When the timer goes off the contestants must stop working on their paper airplane.

Add Another Layer Of Competition:

If you're looking to make things a bit more interesting we've included a few ideas below to help raise the bar.

  • Try setting up obstacles that need to be flown around or through
  • Consider providing multiple weights and types of paper for the building stage
  • You may also be interested in building paper plane launchers for the contestants
  • Give extra points for flips or tricks
