The Importance of Paper Airplane Safety

paper airplane safety

When it comes to paper airplanes, safety is always the top priority. That's why it's important to always follow the proper safety procedures when flying your paper airplane. By following these simple tips, you can help ensure a safe and fun experience for everyone involved.

Safety Tips

  • NOT IN THE FACE: Never throw the paper airplane at people and pets.
  • PAPERCUTS: Avoid brushing the edge of the paper.
  • ENVIRONMENT: Use caution when flying paper planes in the house.
  • BALANCE: Be sure to balance your paper airplane correctly.

Not in the face

Paper airplanes may cause injuries when handled carelessly. It should go without saying, but, you should NEVER throw a paper airplane at a person or pets face. Getting poked in the eye is extremely painful and can easily damage vision.

Papercuts are real

Another important note is that paper can cut you by brushing your skin against the edge of the paper. These cuts are obnoxiously painful due to the rigid, unfinished edges of the paper. The rigid edges could also contain bacteria that could contaminate the wound causing an infection to spread.

Environment is everything

Paper airplanes are relatively light so they're more susceptible to forces in their environment. Always survey your surroundings to avoid accidents, like breaking things or killing houseplants. Being aware of your environment and the airspace around you will help ensure you don't damage the property around you.

Balance before beauty

Designing a balanced paper airplane is also a key safety protocol. If an airplane is not properly balanced, it can crash or lose control, which could injure a unsuspecting bystander. A well-designed paper airplane will be much more stable in the air enabling better performance and accuracy.

These precautions coupled with DRAG will make flying paper airplanes safer for everyone.

Being aware of your environment and the forces at play during flight can greatly reduce the chances of an accident. When in doubt use DRAG as an easy way to survey your surroundings while preparing for your next launch.

  • Direction
  • Range
  • Air Movement
  • G-force

To affectively use DRAG you must consider the direction of flight to avoid collisions, range of the flight to ensure safe travel, air movement such as fans or weather conditions that could adjust the course, and lastly, the g-force of the launch which could cause unexpected results.

In conclusion, it is important to be aware of paper airplane safety. There are many potential hazards associated with paper airplanes, so it is important to take precautions when flying them. By following some simple safety tips, you can ensure that your paper airplane experience is safe and enjoyable.

If you or someone you know are unsure of how to launch a paper airplane, consult an expert.
